My cat is pooping more than often?

My 5 year old blue male persian cat has been pooping. Not all over the place, but on the same carpet in my mom's restroom. Every day for four days now. Is something wrong with him? We've had him for a year and a half now, and he's trained. He always uses the litter box. Unless he poops in my mom's restroom. He never goes outside, so I don't think he could have some disease. He has been scratching often though, and has scabs all over his body.
