Could I have caught Ring Worm from my dog?

We just got a new puppy about a week ago, and someone who bought from that litter (her previous owners litter that she came out of) said that her dog also had a spot on it like ours, and that it turned out it was ringworm. How is this transmitted? Could I have caught it? I don't let her lick me although she did at first a little bit on my hands, and I have no open wounds. Oh gawsh, I hate parasites...ewwww. Should I be concerned? How is it contagious?
