Insurance Settlement Questions? Help!?
Its a little more complicated than you might think. The three times medical specials is an old myth. The other parties liability insurance company will evaluate your injuries by securing all of your medical records and bills, wage loss information, pictures of any scarring and any other records pertinent to the injury and then make an offer that is consistent with similar cases and injuries. This might take some time due to the seriousness of your claim. If you do not think the offer is fair after it is made, you can seek legal help. If you wait until after the offer is made you should be able to negotiate the attorney's fees so that his contingency is based only on any monies in excess of the original offer. Remember you will have to reimburse all money payed for medical bills on your behalf out of any settlement collected. Good Luck If you go to an attorney right away he/she will charge you 33-40% of the entire settlement amount. These type of claims need to be settled within 2 yrs in most jurisdictions. Ask you insurance company what the statute of limitations is in your state.
